You gotta be wise

Listen as your day unfolds, challenge what the future holds, try and keep your head up to the sky. Lovers, they may cause you tears, go ahead release your fears, stand up and be counted, don't be ashamed to cry. You gotta be, You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard, You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, You gotta stay together

Ronald Reagan

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide."

Things my daughter's say....

Today, Gracelyn and Madalyn threw pennies into the fountain at North Med for the first time, and made a wish.
G: I can NOT wait to get home. You are going to be so surprised, Mom!

she gets home and runs to her room...

G: Mom. The wish didn't work! They just want to be rich and take all our money and not give us our wishes!!

"Mom, why are Davin and Gabby coming over without their parents?"
"because Daddy and Davin's Daddy are going to a basketball game."
"oh. Ok. But, if Daddy goes outside he better wear a sweater because it's cold out".

G: Awww, Madalyn, you only have two coins? Well, I have four. So, I will give you one so we can both have three.
M:Thank you, Gracie. Oh, Look. I found another coin!! Now, I have four!

G: Then, I want my coin back! I only gave it to you because you only had two!
M: No! You already gave it to me!
G: See, Mom. This is what happens when I am nice.

"Madalyn, you can wear jeans today. You've never even worn them".
"Moooom. Why are you punishing me?!"

"Mom, I almost didn't barf".

"Mom, can you close the curtain?"
"No. I want to be able to see you girls".
"What? Don't you trust us?"

Madalyn Rose

My Punky is going to be 5 years old tomorrow! Yay!

Gracie goes for her ENT appt tomorrow, a screening for a second pair of tubes in her ears. She's had four ear infections since August. Ick. Poor baby.

Spelling words from a first grade view point.

"Gracie, spell 'never'."
"As in, 'we are never ever ever getting back together'?"

A love letter to Syracuse

An art project by Steve Powers in Tipp Hill.

Family

“Most good things happen without a plan: friendships, falling in love, finding a job, and so on. If you want to make your new year count, you’ll need to be intentional — not by setting goals, but by making space in your life for what really matters.”
Jeff Goins (via dark-rye)

That is my only goal in life. To just be happy. Live life to the fullest. Treasure all the small things. Remember every moment, every laugh, every smile that my girls have, to make room for what really matters.
Sure, there are things I want in life. To get my BSN and my Masters, to buy a house, to advance in my nursing career, become certified in forensic nursing, to skydive, to go snorkeling, to go to Greece, to hike up every mountain in the Adirondaks, to set up camp on the side of a mountain for a weekend, to go kayaking, to build a house.

There are a lot of things I want to do in this life. But, none of them really matter in the grand scheme of things. As long as I have my family, my siblings, my parents, my husband, my girls-as long as they are all healthy and happy, as long as I always have my family, nothing else really matters. I live every breath of my life for my girls, for my family. I want to photograph every moment, write down every word said, feel every hug, every kiss, so that I never forget it. That is what really matters in this life. Family. You can't replace them, you can't forget them. So, my sole goal is to love my family, my beautiful girls and my husband the best that I can. Because, you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Family is the most important thing in life, after all, if you don't have your family to live for, what kind of life are you really living?

Not just with articles of clothes.

I have to say, this applies with me to everything, not just articles of clothing. When I have any questions, or I just need to talk, I am lucky enough to have a wonderful mother to go to.

Except when it is about cool medical things, that I call my dad with, he finds that stuff as fascinating as I do. You should hear our holiday dinner conversations with both my brother and I both being in the medical field. haha.

You know I'm indecisive when my Nurse Residency leader calls me on it.

It's the little things, the simple things in life.

This morning I woke the girls up early, just for the sole purpose of doing their hair and spending the morning getting ready in a relaxed style, unlike our usual hurry-get-dressed-here's-a-bag-of-cereal-hurry-brush-your-teeth-forget-doing-your-hair-put-your-shoes-on out the door style.

I only spent about 10 minutes in the bathroom with Gracelyn doing her hair, but she was so happy, and so proud of her hair, that it made my heart swell. Even Madalyn held still long enough for me to put her hair up and put on a headband.

It's the little things in life. The simple things that make my girls smile and laugh, that fill me with the joy to forget everything else.

a side of indecisive, anyone?

I think that indecisive should be my middle name. ha.

10 ish years.

I've decided. I will have my third child in ten-ish years. When I (hopefully) have more patience. haha.

Serenity.

I'd live here. Forever.

As the scale trends upwards.

Food. I love it. All of it.

Mexican. Chinese. Sushi. Taco Bell. Oh, Taco Bell. A category all it's own.

Tacos. Cookies. Pie. Burgers. Cookies. I'll eat it all.

Spaghetti. Steak with Mushrooms and Onions and Garlic. Lasagna. Cookies.

Brownies. Doughnuts. Everything Bagels with butter and extra Veggie Cream Cheese.

And, who said I didn't eat healthy foods? See. EXTRA VEGGIE cream cheese.

Tuna Fish, a fried egg and cheese on toast. See. Getting my protein.

Don't get me wrong. I love 'healthy foods'. I love veggies. I love fruit.

Mostly, I just snack. I snack a lot. I snack enough in one day to feed four teenage boys for a week.

I eat all night. When I work, I eat. When I sleep, I wake up to eat. I dream about food.

I am eating right now.

I eat when I'm not hungry.

Food taste so good.

It is life-sustaining, you know.

I have got to stop.

Before the scale trends upwards, in an un-ladylike fashion.

I am not lady-like when I eat.

I am not lady-like when I do much of anything.

I get kicked out of bed at 2am for eating to loudly.

That is un-called for.

Who DOESN'T eat a full meal at 2am?

Coffee is the same way. I drink a LOT of caffeine.

When I try to feel "healthy", I drink iced tea.

I drink enough caffeine to keep those four teenaged boys awake for a week.

Food. Caffeine. Ibuprofen. Excedrin.

Yep. Sums up my daily intake.

...and a hug around the neck. That's how much I love you.

More.

...and so I do.

True Story.

...and so I did.

Happy Valentine's Day. I made funeral arrangements for you.

Happy Valentine's Day. I made funeral arrangements for you.

More.

“There’s nothing wrong with being happy. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying something so much that it strips away all that irony and cynicism. And there’s nothing wrong with loving anything so much that it feels like it could pull your heart out of your chest and toss it on the floor. We build ourselves up to not do that, and then we build up the armor so thickly that we have trouble finding what’s underneath. We use that as an excuse to lash out at people who do feel stuff, who do like things (and I am, of course, mostly saying this about myself). It’s hard sometimes to remember that the world isn’t a place to glide through, so nothing can touch you. It’s a place to be experienced.” – Todd VanDerWerff

haha.

Silly/random. As stolen from Jami.

As usual. I am just going to steal random things from my friends blog that make me smile/laugh.

This should be posted at the hospital. Where Patient Safety is the key topic. LOL

Stole this one, also. From Jami. Made me smile.

LOL. I do love Pizza.
Vulgar. But hilarious. and oh, so true.

I have posted this before. But it still makes me LOL.

"That was the thing about words, they were clear and specific-chair, eye, stone- but when you talked about feelings, words were too stiff, they were this and not that, they couldn’t include all the meanings. In defining, they always left something out.” – Janet Fitch
