You gotta be wise

Listen as your day unfolds, challenge what the future holds, try and keep your head up to the sky. Lovers, they may cause you tears, go ahead release your fears, stand up and be counted, don't be ashamed to cry. You gotta be, You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard, You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, You gotta stay together

Ronald Reagan

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide."

Well.

Well. It has been some time since I have blogged. I have been busy with work. I don't remember the last time I blogged, or what I wrote. I am to lazy to go back and look so I will just start from getting my job. I got my job at Upstate on 5b. It is a surgical/trauma/transplant/GI/GU/medical floor. We get everything. Literally. In the past few weeks I have had such a wide variety of pts. Ranging from post op bariatric and kidney surgerys, to cervical and spinal fractures, accident victims (snowmobile and car) to CHF exacerbations and failed kidney transplants. It is such a busy floor and very exciting. Altho. I get the "look" from ppl when I tell them where I work because it is literally the hardest floor in the hospital. Floats have to train on our floor, because "they" say if you can work on our floor you can work anywhere. It has a 57% turn over rate, because no one can last. A few 'good' nurses have been there for between 3 and 8 years. I like it a lot, and haven't decided if I do want to continue on to the NICU (which would mean moving to Crouse, unless I wait for Upstate to buy Com. Gen.) or over to Peds. I work the 6 and 1 sched. meaning I work 6 12's and 1 eight in a 2 week period, with as much overtime as I want! I can't pick up overtime until I am done "orienting" in 10 weeks. Their weeks are Wed to Wed. Meaning that I can work 2 days of our regular Sun to Sun week one week, and then 6 12's the next week. Yeah. I am on my only day off today on my 6 12's that started Monday and end Sunday. Then I go to nights on Thursday. At least I get 3 days off first!! For the next month I work 2 or 3 12's and have two days off. Whew. lol.

Madalyn and Gracelyn are getting so big. It's crazy. Gracelyn is such a  big girl. She was sick for about 6 hours tho yesterday, after being at my mom's since Sat. and then woke up sobbing from her nap today with a bad dream that I died. poor baby.

Potty Training. Not going so well.

I've run out of things to say. I haven't done much but work. Altho I was uber excited to order a bunch of new scrubs/accessories online!
