Madalyn is doing pretty good with potty training. I ask her if she wants to go, or she tells me, but I don't push it if she says no. She'll do it on her own time. Which is, apparently, a lot slower than Gracie's was. haha. These two are so different. Gracie was early to walk, talk, and get off the bottle (all by 10 months)and was potty trained by the time Madalyn was born, and Madalyn didn't walk til 17 months, has just now really picked up on talking, and just got off the bottle a couple months ago, and is just starting to potty train. haha. Them being so different is what makes life interesting. lol.
Vin is back at work today. He came home after like 2 hours yesterday cuz he pulled a muscle in his back. he could barely walk. He's doing better today.
The New Shark Week is on Watch Instantly. I am psyched. I even set it up so I can watch netflix on my laptop, in case Vin or the girls are watching tv. I also watched the first episode of 'pushing daisies'. Seems cute. I have watched a couple episodes here and there in the past.
Angela's Ashes. SUCH a great book. Especially for being nonfiction. It is told by the perspective of the Author, at his age in the book. He says a lot of things that he doesn't realize are so awful, but just break your heart. Especially knowing it is a true story, and these kids didn't know how bad their lives were. They Were growing up in Ireland during the potato famine. The nights that their father even had a job, he would spend the 'dole' at the pub and they would go hungry. He was like "Dad is at the pub, guess we arent eating tonight", and that just broke my heart. the whole book is spectacular. I ordered Candide and have that coming, since I don't know where my copy of it went, and I really want to read it again.
I have to shower and go grocery shopping today. sigh. I hate shopping with the girls, but unless I want to wait til Vin gets home, that is how I do my shopping every week.
Saturday we have a wedding we are going to. I am the DD for Vin and his friend and his wife. They are buying me a bottle of Red Cat for my services. lol. My mom will have both the girls that night. We are prolly just gonna sit home, watch tv and have a couple drinks. Just like a normal weekend (well, not necessarily with the couple drinks. ahah). Buuuut. It will be quiet. No kids to yell at. It will be nice. Then Gracie is staying the week at my parents so she can go to Vacation Bible School.
I watched the final episode of L word. I must say, I am sad to see it go. :-(
I am all caught up on Army Wives, which Jami has recently started watching. I want to so badly tell her everything that is going to happen in the next 4 seasons...but I won't. haha.
School starts in t-minus 4 days. sigh. I went to the lab and practiced with Heather. Well, she practiced and I observed, I seem to remember better that way. I also watched a couple of the skills video's online on the IV's and stuff since they didn't have the stuff up there to practice with. I am sure that once I actually start doing this stuff again, it will become second nature, all over again. It has just been since January since I have even touched an IV or done any skills. we didn't do anything in our specialties semester, unless you count talking to substance addicted people, holding the legs of mother's pushing kids out, giving the vitamin k shot to newborns, changing poopy diapers, playing with sick kids and taking vitals. That's all we did. No sterile dressings, no IVs, no tubes of any kind-- hell, I barely passed meds.
My risotto turned out really good. I am going to make it again sometime. Maybe for dinner Sunday at my parents. Minus the artichokes. It takes to long to turn those damn things.
k. I am out.
Those aren't the lyrics?
